Prop desk
A prop firm journal that sees the trail
Combines are sold on the profit target. They are failed on the trail. Pnlytix puts the firm's cage on the account so a futures eval is not reviewed like a live IRA with a logo.
Two death conditions
On a live book, a pullback is a bad month. On a combine with a tight trailing drawdown, the same sequence of fills is a lock. The tickets can match. The account does not. A journal that flattens both into one equity curve can only answer the live question.
That difference is written up here: live books and prop desks are not the same journal.
Rules on the account, not in your head
- Trailing drawdown that ratchets on closed profit, versus a static max loss.
- Daily loss on the firm’s session clock, not on the mood of the afternoon.
- Consistency caps that turn the hero day into a payout problem.
- News windows and max contracts that do not exist on the brokerage book.
Size off the room you have left, not off the original account size. A green morning that lifted the floor means the afternoon scratch is a different risk. How the trail actually moves is the longer note.
What the journal will not pretend to be
The firm’s dashboard is still the source of truth for a lock and a payout. Pnlytix does not scrape a promise that you passed. It keeps the program you paid for — firm, phase, size, trail or static loss — next to the process, so you stop discovering the rule in a violation email.
The live book stays a separate account. Same setup, different kill-switch. Start from what Pnlytix is, or the trading journal if the brokerage book is the one you opened first.
Questions
What is a prop firm journal?
A journal that can see the firm's rules, not only the fills. In Pnlytix that means firm, phase, trailing or static drawdown, daily loss, and consistency stored on the account you actually traded.
Can I tag trades as “prop” inside my live account?
A tag does not carry trailing drawdown, daily loss, or a consistency cap. Those live on the account. One mixed P&L looks fine until the firm locks you.
Does this replace the firm dashboard?
No. The firm decides the lock and the payout. The journal is how you see the same cage next to your process before that email.
